Weak gravitational lensing by large-scale structure, or cosmic shear, is a powerful tool to investigate both the growth of structure and the expansion of the Universe, being also a key probe in the future Euclid space mission. In this talk I will introduce basic concepts of cosmic shear theory and observations, and present recent cosmic shear constraints on modified gravity.
